Interpreting Middle East Economic News and Analyzing Market Trends

What happened to the Arab Spring?

More than two years since the Arab Spring began in Tunisia and spread across the Middle East and North Africa, one has to ask, what has it accomplished?

The Arab Spring began with the youth rising up and protesting against decades of dictatorship, tyranny and lack of opportunities.  This youth movement has now been hijacked by groups who were sitting off on the sidelines and are now grabbing power.  Stability in the Middle East has a long way to go and the youth, who have now been tossed aside, are rising up again to demand that they be heard.  There is still a long way to go before there is calm in the region.  The youth deserve to be heard, after all, the Arab Spring is their spring.
